Deep Waters

Why is it that thoughts are often compared to water? Always changing form, but never their essence. They can be lying in calm pools, boiling in upheaval, streaming in consciousness. Thoughts, like water, never seem to sit still. We often skim the surface when we daydream and plunge into the depths when we philosophize. They burble and brew, stirring constantly, even as we sleep.
